To prepare and encourage students from diverse backgrounds to serve as leaders among their peers, while building their skills, commitment and desire to serve our community now and in the future.
Nine Month Program with 4 hour sessions once a month, an overnight retreat (1.5 days) prior to start of the school year, and a graduation ceremony at the end of the 9 month Program.
40 students are selected each year from all Arlington ISD high schools and can include students who reside in Arlington or AISD boundaries who attend Timberview HS, Summit HS, Kennedale HS and private schools.
In the spring semester high school sophomores submit applications by the date listed on the application for participation in the program during their junior year. The class is selected and students and parents are invited to an Orientation in June.
Youth Program Application
Monthly meetings on Mondays from 4:30-8:30 PM including dinner (note: the Economic Development Session will be from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm). Topics include: Health and Human Services, Government, Leadership Skills, Education, Economic Development and Arts & Culture.
There is no cost to the students. Dinners are donated and costs kept to a minimum. Donations from organizations, corporations and individuals are gratefully received.
A steering committee of Leadership Arlington’s Adult & Youth Alumni plan and implement the program.
